AMBEE for Philips Hue Lights App Reviews

Awesome!

This app is the greatest option for transitions / scenes! This is greater than Philips App.

Expensive, no trial

I got the app for free but just to test it one has to pay at least 2€ ... Hint: include 1 scene for free. Otherwise a lot of people (like me) simply delete it without trying.

App is free but wont work without in-app purchase

Id love to give this a better review but not willing to shell out $2.79 (per scene) to see if I like it or not. This should come with a few free scenes.

Nice selection

I like the selection, but I really wish there was a way to dim the intensity of the selected scene.

No, thank

This app keep asking for your personal info (e mail, Facebook log in, Apple ID password etc.) before you can try it. No thanks.

Great app

I really like this app! So far outstanding! Smooth, clean and clear :) its really easy to use which is important to me.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??

the scenes I paid for dont even exist anymore...

Just want to control my lights

First thing the app tells me is something error about my not making a purchase. Second thing the app tells me is to create an account, or connect to Facebook. I cant even try it out without an account. App deleted.

Simplicity for Hue at its finest

The holy grail of Hue apps!! As a long time Hue user and old Apple employee, Ive been longing for an app for thats simple to run, yet is able to turns heads in envy. The preset themes in Ambee are designed to make an owner of Hue look like a rockstar. Try Northern Lights, you wont be disappointed. Last, expect compliments and questions about your Hue lights when running this app.

Too expensive

There are a few sections of light moods in this app (relax, party, etc) and within each section are a few different color pallet options. Each mood has 1 free pallet and every other individual pallet setting is priced at $1.99. Are you kidding? The apps menu navigation is somewhat intuitive but the business model is not.

Goldee Reincarnated and Better than Ever!

Sure, the pricing isnt perfect but the themes absolutely are. I can tell that a great effort has been undertaken to create these magical themes. No app does dynamic thematic lighting like the Ambee team and I am looking forward to enjoying your craftsmanship with light. Keep it up!

Its nice and expensive

App works well. Could be organized better. I like having the lights just flow nicely. Now for the bad, it messes up my lighting automation through smart things and I have to set the lights back when Im done. It only comes with one free scene. The rest are all $1.99 a piece. At least they added a way to preview them all. Gave an extra star for that. I would expect packs of scenes at $1.

Decent

Wish there was a way to create my own custom scenes.

Beautiful but overrides Philips Hue app

I absolutely love this app with all of its swirling colors and moody ambience. But it does override the Philips Hue app without your consent. A week ago this app caused a fight with my spouse who went to sleep upstairs before me and we couldnt get the master bedroom lights to stop playing the Ambee show over and over. Turns out even if you shut a room off with Philips Hue Ambee will turn the lights back on and if you dont realize this is happening it can cause a real problem! But knowing this ahead of time will make Ambee worth the money spent. Pay attention to the room scenes on top of the Ambee app or you may regret it!

Polished scene app

Nice polished scene app that offers an artist take on hue. Well designed, simple, and no frills experience to differentiate your hue lifestyle

Great app, just needs the ability to dim and brighten.

Warehouse style condos/ lofts need more light- only thing keeping me from giving Ambee 5 stars. Yes- scenes are at a premium, but the ability to preview them is a welcoming addition. Great scenes and lights flow nicely.

Best Hue App

This app is the best way to take advantage of your Hue lights. It is among my favorite apps! Caveat: I was a huge fan of Goldee and was never able to find an app of similar quality and function after its downfall. Paying for the scenes is not a big deal to me - they are beautiful, well developed, and I am honestly just happy that an app like this is on the market.

Needs some minor changes, but has amazing potential.

Goldee was one of my first Hue apps, and after its fall a year ago, I was very upset. Tomas has now released a spiritual successor in the form of Ambee! This app being in its 1.0 phase needs some tweaks, but its easy to tell this app has loads of potential. Its easy to use and set up, theres no lag, the themes are perfect and really set the mood. This is a great app with loads of potential and a great user experience. Cant recommend it enough.

Goldee resurrected

I personally reached out to the Goldee team and encouraged them to release the app for money, not free of charge. I am happy this is back.

Makes it worth owning hue lights again

Goldee and now Ambee was and now is the only app that really showed off Philips hue lights for what they were meant to be. This app is still very basic but is does the core experience of what Goldee did very well. I miss some of the original scenes from Goldee like the lava one though. Hope the team brings it back!
