AMBEE for Philips Hue Lights App Reviews

I just got my Hue system a couple weeks ago. Its the best investment Ive made in years. I downloaded the Hue app when I got it of course, but I saw a video on YouTube that rated a few others (not Ambee). I figured Id try Ambee since it was cheap. All I can say is WOW! My favorite scenes are Miami Heat and Night on the Lake. All the scense are good, but these two seem to have the richest color saturation. Some scenese are more dynamic than others; some are very subtle. Ambee is my favorite app so far. Its a little on the simple side, but definitely high impact.

My favorite app for my Hue lamps is back! Its really nice having an app that can create smooth, living scenes in my rooms. I have two suggestions: First, it would be great to have the sleep timer that used to be part of Goldee. I used to use the Goldee app to get to sleep and would like the sleep lights to turn themselves off after a few minutes. Second, the more themes the better! I was happy to pay $5 for the app but please dont start charging more for additional themes.

I love this app but please bring back the brightness slider as it made this app infinitely more useful for me.

Too simplistic and way overpriced. Not a complete waste of money but they to add more features and presets

Get it free, but You cant use it without buying a scene for 1.99

I downloaded the app for free. Thats the best part. So enjoy it while its downloading. No samples. No examples. No explanations. They expect you to pay $1.99 per scene to see what makes this so much better than the hue app that is free and you can make your own scenes.

$2 for each new scene is way too much. If I knew this would be the direction the app was taking, I would not have purchased it in the first place. I would feel double cheated if I bought a scene and didnt even like it.

I paid $5 for this app and now all my favorite scenes have been taken away. This app is a scam. DO NOT BUY

Used to be a big fan. Now this app just gets put on the "shelf." You have no control over your lights. They all go on with a scene. Also, the brightness slider went away along with the utility of this app. Now, after buying the app to have to pay $1.99 for each of the working scenes? No thanks... Had potential with colorful scenes, but just not going in the right direction.

Developer is helpful but its all about the $$$ so dont invest in this company or they will take more of your money in the future and make you pay again. This was a great app but now you have to pay per scene even if you never got a chance to test the scene. I used to only use 4 scenes and not the rest so why would I pay $2 per new scene if I dont even know if Ill like it? Shame...shame

The developer deserves to make a living dont down vote an app simply because the developer needs to make money to continue support. Do you think that a one time payment of a couple dollars will enable him to keep investing in new scenes for free?

This app is a suitable replacement for goldee except it does not allow selection of which lights are affected. Im told its in the works for the next version but really should be a feature before requiring users pay. To those who paid for the app, pressing restore purchases should unlock all of the scenes since you were an early supporter. Read the emails they send you!

WARNING: If you purchase anything from him, dont get your hopes up it will last. His last project left me $600 in the hole. His last app, Goldee, led to a crowdfunding project for expensive light switch replacements. I personally spent $600 on that… then he announced that they went bankrupt. Claimed one of his developers deleted all their code. No money back, no recourse for remediation, not even a real apology. BUYER BEWARE!

Best hue app on the market by far! Dynamic scenes are great and light groupings are a huge plus. Would like to be able to preview scenes before buying them as $1.99 is a lot for each new scene.

Offers nothing over default Hue app. Two or three free light recipes and the rest is in app purchases. Fairly generic light recipes at that. Avoid this app.

Its funny I bought this app for $4.99 when it first came out and it had 5 stars. Now he made the app free and charging $1.99 for each scene.
